2018 Tour de USA® FAQ

HOW LONG IS THE TOUR DE USA® RALLY?

We begin in Los Angeles on August 15, 2018 (exact location and engine start TBD) and finish back in Los Angeles on September 19th.

WHY WAS THE TOUR DE USA® (TUSA) CREATED?

The 2018 Tour is all about supporting America’s 15+ million cancer survivors. The 2018 mission is prostate cancer awareness and prevention.

HOW WILL THE TOUR DE USA® STOP PROSTATE CANCER?

When men find their prostate cancer early, its treatable and even curable. When its detected at Stages 3 or 4, it’s often problematic. Our Prostate Tracker App™ gives men an easy way of knowing if they are at risk for prostate cancer. Our mission for 2018 is making sure men know about prostate cancer and how to use the Prostate Tracker App.

Almost 28,000 men die each year from prostate cancer because they don’t know they have the disease. We can change that!

WHAT’S THE TOUR DE USA® ROUTE?

Click the following link for the daily schedule – ROUTE. The nightly city stops are in the 2018 Tour de USA Forum and at 2018 Tour de USA Nightly City Stops. We don’t yet have the exact hotel locations. So join the mailing list in the right sidebar to keep current.

WILL THE TOUR DE USA® DRIVE SOME TWISTIES?

That’s our plan! We’re driving the Tail of the Dragon on August 22nd and the epically-scenic Route 36 in Northern California toward the end of the trip. We’re using a top motorcycle road list to pick some fun sections, but we’d love to have your input. Just send us a Google map segment using the contact form at right.

WHERE WILL THE TOUR DE USA® STOP IN THE EVENING?

We have the city stops selected but not the exact locations. We plan to stop where we can connect with prostate cancer survivors and cancer organizations and have a media event to publicize our prostate cancer message. Put your name on our email list in the right hand sidebar and we’ll keep you updated on the schedule and locations.

I HEARD SOMETHING ABOUT A TOUR DE USA® WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT. WHAT’S THAT All ABOUT?

Yup! We’re going for two World Records: The Longest Charity Road rally and the Charity Road Rally with the Largest Number of Participants. We estimate the route to be 9,341 miles (it likely will be more once we add your twisty sections). The number of participants we have will be up to you. Ready to join in? Register for the 2018 Tour de USA.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE TOUR DE USA®?

Anyone can be part of this adventure. You could drive the entire route with me (which would be pretty cool) or any segment of the route along the way. You can drive a car, ride your motorcycle, or even join in with that Range Rover (just kidding, we love Range Rovers!). I will be driving my MX-5 Miata that I have kitted out for autocross and Track Day events. See the picture in the sidebar. You can’t miss it!

HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE TOUR DE USA®?

You can help out in a number of ways:

  1. Sign up and drive or ride a segment of the route with us. The more people we have involved the greater likelihood that the media pay attention. When they do, we get our prostate cancer message out. It’s that simple. Ready? Just head on over to the registration page.
  2. Make a donation to the Cancer Journeys Foundation to support ProstateTracker App.
  3. If you live in or near one of our city stops, call your local TV and radio stations and tell them we’re coming through and ask for 30 seconds to tell guys about prostate cancer.
  4. Tell your friends about the Tour.

HOW CAN I TRACK THE TOUR DE USA® PROGRESS AS THEY CROSS THE US?

We’re going to be using a GPS tracker from Globalstar. We’re testing our FindMeSpot device locally right now, but you will be able to follow us in real time at 2018 Tour de USA Right Now

If you drive/ride with us, your friends and family will be able to track your progress on a free Internet site that looks just like the image below. Pretty cool, right?

IS TOUR DE USA® A FUNDRAISER?

Yes. The Tour de USA® is also a fundraiser. The money we raise goes directly to operating ProstateTracker App and supporting America’s 15+ million cancer survivors. But, you don’t have to be a fundraiser to participate. You will be able to make a small donation that will list you as an official participant with an officer t-shirt.

CAN MY COMPANY SPONSOR THE TOUR DE USA®?

Yes. Your company or organization can be a sponsor. They can help out in several ways:

  • Make a cash donation
  • Provide support in kind – fuel, lodging, meals, video support for our trip documentary, arranging media interviews at one of our stops
  • Participate in the Double the Donation program. Many companies match the charitable donations their employees make. We’ll show you how to do that.
  • Join us for a segment of the rally.
  • Arrange an end-of-day event at their location.

HOW CAN I BE A FUNDRAISER?

We are working on a personal donation system and we’ll have that working by the end of June. The funds you raise will go directly to the Cancer Journeys Foundation to support their programs.

Join our information list on the right sidebar and we’ll let you know as soon as we have the fundraising program in place. You will not receive any email not directly related to the TOUR DE USA® and you can always opt out with one single click.

I hope to see you with us this August!
